Finals Day!

It’s finals day today. Matches start at 12 and we have 7 quality finals to look forward to!

See you there!

Junior Success!

Four junior members of WPLTC who played in the club 14 and Under Road to Wimbledon Competition competed at the County Finals on Saturday and Sunday at Great Missenden Tennis Club.

We are delighted to report that Hope Wrightwas county runner-up, a wonderful result as this is her first year in the age group. Hope will be invited to a Saturday coaching session at Wimbledon in August on the Aorangi courts led by Dan Bloxham, head coach at the LTA. He will be assisted by a top player (last few years it has been Tim Henman but they have not confirmed who it is as yet, Hope would like it to be Rafa!). Hope is also playing in our ladies singles and doubles so watch out!!

Ellie Lane and Harvey Dean also qualified for the county finals and both played very well indeed on the Saturday. Ellie is partnering Hope in the club doubles and is also playing in the singles.

Charlie Loriot won the Wooburn competition and in a very tough boys’ draw he qualified on Saturday and reached the quarter finals on Sunday where he narrowly lost on a tie break. Charlie played on grass which was a new experience. Charlie is also participating in the Club tournament in the singles and doubles.

Well done to all the above and all of the other juniors in the club who took part in the competition this year. They played a big part in the success at county level by providing good competition.

Watch out Wooburn, the future is very bright!

As always, the club would like to also thank Janet for her commitment to the Juniors, providing them with the opportunities to participate in these competitions.

Wimbledon Ticket Allocation

Congratulations if you are one of the lucky ones and have been allocated a pair of tickets in the club Wimbledon Ballot. There is a list of the allocated tickets in the Member’s Area.
Janet will upload the list to the LTA no later than Wednesday of this week.
PLEASE check that you are able to accept these tickets and let Janet know immediately if you are going to reject them. Last year members did reject first choice allocations and this impacts on other members who could have had the tickets in the first place.
It would help if you can just let Janet know you are happy with your tickets and she will upload your allocation to the LTA who will be in touch with you directly.
All subject to you having paid your subs!

Chairman Update

Lovely to see the chairman at club morning! Comment of the day… “You could’ve had a bench…”
